Size Chart - Acavallo Seat Savers

Acavallo seat savers are sized to fit your saddle seat size, not your body. Choose the right size below based on the saddle you will be using it with.

Seat Saver Size Chart

Size Saddle Seat Size Best For
Pony Up to 16" Pony saddles
Medium (M) 16.5" – 17" Most jumping and close-contact saddles
Large (L) 17.5" – 18" Most dressage saddles and larger jumping saddles
What about 17" and 17.5" saddles? If your saddle is exactly 17", Medium is usually the best fit. If your saddle is 17.5", it depends on the brand and cantle style — saddles with a smaller, flatter cantle often fit Medium well, while those with a larger, deeper cantle may need Large. When in doubt, Medium is the safer choice — a slightly snug seat saver sits more securely than one that is too large.

How to Check Your Saddle Size

If you are not sure of your saddle size, measure from the centre of the pommel (the front of the seat, just behind the D-ring) to the centre of the cantle (the highest point at the back). Measure in a straight line across the seat — this gives you the seat size in inches.

Jumping vs Dressage Seat Savers

Some Acavallo seat savers are cut specifically for jumping saddles (shorter, flatter profile) while others are shaped for dressage saddles (longer, deeper seat). Always check the product title and description to make sure you are choosing the right cut for your saddle type.

Feature Jumping / Close-Contact Cut Dressage Cut

Understanding the Range

Acavallo offers several seat saver variations. Here is a quick guide to the key differences:

  • Gel-In vs Gel-Out: "Gel-In" places the gel layer inside, giving a smooth riding surface. "Gel-Out" has the gel on the outside (rider side) for more direct cushioning and grip.
  • 10mm vs 20mm: The thickness of the Dri-Lex padding layer. 10mm is slimmer and less noticeable in the saddle. 20mm provides more cushioning — ideal if comfort is your top priority.
  • Standard vs Ortho-Coccyx vs Ortho-Pubis: Standard is the classic full-seat shape. Ortho-Coccyx has a cut-out at the back to relieve tailbone pressure. Ortho-Pubis has a cut-out at the front for pubic bone comfort.
  • Classic Gel vs Hexagonal Gel: Classic is Acavallo’s original smooth gel. Hexagonal gel has a honeycomb structure that is lighter and more breathable.
  • Air Plus: Features air channels within the gel for enhanced ventilation and lighter weight.

Attachment and Care

All Acavallo seat savers attach with elastic straps and grip panels that hook around your saddle panels without altering the saddle’s position. They can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The Dri-Lex fabric is designed to wick moisture and dry quickly.
