Size Guide — Imperial Riding Headcollars
How to Find Your Headcollar Size
Imperial Riding headcollars are available in three standard sizes — Pony, Cob, and Full — to fit most horses and ponies. Use a soft measuring tape to measure around your horse's head at the broadest point (just below the cheekbones). You can also measure an existing headcollar that fits well.
Size Chart
| Size | Suitable For | Typical Height Range | Nose Circumference (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pony | Small ponies, Shetlands, young horses | Up to 13.2hh | 36–40 cm |
| Cob | Large ponies, native breeds, cobs, finer Thoroughbreds | 13.2hh – 15.2hh | 40–44 cm |
| Full | Most Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, sport horses | 15.2hh and above | 44–48 cm |
Tips for Getting the Right Fit
- You should be able to fit two fingers under the noseband — any tighter and it will restrict movement; any looser and the headcollar may slip off.
- The cheekpiece should sit flat against your horse's cheek, neither pulling the noseband up toward the eyes nor sitting too low on the nose.
- If your horse is between sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort.
